SEND Careers Provision

London Borough of Barking and Dagenham The Council is seeking to commission a targeted early intervention, careers support for vulnerable pupils with additional needs to help reduce the risk of young people disengaging at the point of transition, improve their wellbeing and life chances, and support delivery of wider borough objectives for children and young people. This service is required to maintain engagement in education, raise aspirations and ensure that identified pupils have clear, realistic and supported post-16 plans. It will support pupils from Spring and Summer of Year 10 through to Autumn of Year 11, including early work to identify suitable post-16 pathways and support applications for college places at the start of Year 11. Key requirements: Deliver targeted SEND careers and post-16 transition support for approximately 15 pupils in each secondary school. Focus on Year 10 and Year 11 pupils working towards GCSE grades 1-3 who have a known additional need or receive SEND support. Support pupils at risk of poor post-16 transition outcomes to remain engaged in education. Identify suitable post-16 pathways and support preparation for college or training applications. Provide follow-up activity so each young person has an appropriate plan in place for September of Year 12.
